Lizzie Roberts is a Licensed Associate Counselor (LAC) and National Certified Counselor (NCC). She earned her Master’s degree in Counseling from Governors State University and her Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management from Rutgers University. Lizzie who works with couples, individuals (ages 5 and up), and families. She specializes in supporting clients navigating grief, relationship and attachment concerns, life transitions, career challenges, and existential questions.
Lizzie takes an integrative approach to therapy, drawing from psychodynamic, existential, ACT, EFT, and CBT modalities. She also incorporates somatic practices, breathwork, and creative tools such as art activities when they align with client needs. Her style is warm, authentic, and collaborative, and she brings her genuine self into every session. Clients can expect empathy, curiosity, and even a touch of humor, along with a deep commitment to meeting them where they are and honoring their pace.
As an LGBTQIA+ affirming, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive therapist, Lizzie creates an environment where clients feel safe, respected, and fully seen for who they are. She believes therapy should be a place where individuals can explore their identities and experiences without fear of judgment, and where healing and growth can unfold at a pace that feels right for them.
Her journey into counseling was shaped by her own transformative experience in therapy during adolescence, where she discovered the power of insight and self-understanding. That experience sparked her passion for the field and continues to inspire her work today. For Lizzie, the most meaningful part of being a therapist is bearing witness to the resilience and courage of her clients as they continue to show up for themselves and others, even in the face of challenges.
Outside of the therapy room, Lizzie enjoys painting, cooking, running, weightlifting, traveling, and spending time outdoors—whether in nature or wandering through a city. She also values quiet days at home with a good book or simple rest.
Her work is guided by the philosophy expressed in a favorite line by Theodore Roethke: “I wake to sleep, and take my waking slow. I learn by going where I have to go.”
