Lindsay Ruff is a Licensed Associate Counselor (LAC) and Registered Art Therapist (ATR) who brings warmth, creativity, and a collaborative spirit to her work with adolescents (14+) and adults. She specializes in anxiety, depression, eating disorders, mood disorders, grief, life transitions, and stress management.
Lindsay earned her Master’s degree in Counseling with a specialization in Art Therapy from PennWest Edinboro. Her clinical work is rooted in a person-centered and strengths-based approach, drawing on techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), mindfulness, trauma-informed care, and psychotherapy. She also integrates creative expression through art therapy, tailoring this modality to fit the needs and comfort of each individual client.
Lindsay’s therapeutic style is warm, supportive, and empathetic, while also gently challenging when it supports a client’s growth. She believes that therapy is most effective when it is a true collaboration—each client brings their own story, strengths, and wisdom into the room, and Lindsay’s role is to walk beside them with compassion and curiosity. Sessions with Lindsay may focus on reflection, skill-building, or creative exploration, depending on what feels most helpful and relevant for each person.
Clients working with Lindsay can expect a safe, non-judgmental space to explore their thoughts, feelings, and experiences at their own pace. She values the therapeutic relationship and views building trust and rapport as essential to fostering meaningful growth. As treatment progresses, Lindsay regularly checks in with her clients to ensure that the work is aligned with their evolving goals and needs.
Lindsay is LGBTQIA+ affirming, trauma-informed, and culturally competent. She was drawn to the field through her own transformative experience in therapy, which sparked a desire to provide others with the same feeling of being seen, heard, and accepted. For Lindsay, the most meaningful part of this work is witnessing the growth, reflection, and healing that unfold in the therapeutic process.
Outside of the therapy room, Lindsay enjoys spending time with friends, going to concerts, painting, reading, and watching horror movies. She practices self-care by spending time in nature, creating art, and giving herself time to rest and recharge.
A quote that guides her work:
“I believe that a different therapy must be constructed for each patient because each has a unique story.” – Irvin D. Yalom
