Devon Carlin is a Licensed Associate Counselor (LAC) and National Certified Counselor (NCC) who works with children (ages 7+), adolescents, and adults navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and loss, stress, and life transitions. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Rowan University and her Master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling with a Mental Health Counseling concentration from Rutgers University.
Devon’s approach to therapy is warm, supportive, and strengths-based. She is passionate about creating a safe, comfortable, and judgment-free space where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered. Devon values building strong therapeutic relationships and takes a collaborative, client-centered approach, walking alongside her clients as they navigate challenges, increase self-awareness, and develop meaningful coping strategies.
She integrates evidence-based modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing, and Person-Centered Therapy. Devon tailors her approach to each individual by getting to know them holistically—their experiences, identities, strengths, and goals—to ensure therapy remains supportive and effective. She also incorporates mindfulness, creativity, humor, and self-compassion into sessions, helping clients feel engaged while building resilience and practical skills.
Devon focuses on helping individuals navigate major life changes, with a specific emphasis on identity development, adjusting to college, and the transition into adulthood. She is LGBTQIA+ affirming, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive, and approaches her work with humility, respect, and openness to each client’s unique lived experience.
Devon was drawn to the field through her own experiences with therapy and the meaningful support she received throughout her life. This inspired her to become a source of support for others. She finds deep fulfillment in witnessing her clients grow, build confidence, and make positive changes, even in the face of difficult challenges, and considers it an honor to be part of their journey.
Outside of the therapy space, Devon enjoys spending time with loved ones, playing with her dog, practicing pilates and yoga, visiting coffee shops and bookstores, reading, and going to the beach. She prioritizes self-care by staying active, attending her own therapy, and making time for connection and rest.
A quote that resonates with her work is: “Hope is a fragile thing, but it has the power to light up even the darkest of places.” – Rebecca Yarros
