Anna Maria Deschamps is a Licensed Associate Counselor (LAC) and National Certified Counselor (NCC) who works with adolescents, adults, couples, and families navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, addiction, and complex relational dynamics. She brings nearly a decade of experience in the mental health field, including work as a Behavioral Assistant since 2016 and specialized experience supporting clients through advanced treatment modalities such as TMS and Spravato. Anna earned her Bachelor’s degree from Kean University and her Master’s degree from Capella University.
Anna’s therapeutic approach is integrative, drawing from a wide range of modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Narrative Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and trauma-focused approaches such as TF-CBT. She also incorporates expressive arts, sandplay, and attachment-based work, allowing her to meet clients in ways that feel both meaningful and accessible.
Anna creates a space where clients feel safe to explore their stories without pressure or judgment. She approaches therapy as a shared process, honoring each client’s pace while gently challenging patterns that may no longer serve them. Clients can expect thoughtful curiosity, honesty, and a strong emphasis on building trust and emotional safety from the very first session.
Anna tailors her work by listening deeply to both what is said and what may exist beneath the surface. She integrates psychoeducation to help clients better understand their experiences, empowering them with insight and a stronger sense of agency. Whether a client needs structured tools for emotional regulation or space to process trauma and identity, Anna adapts her approach in real time to align with their goals, strengths, and lived experiences.
She is LGBTQIA+ affirming, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive, and she is especially attuned to clients who feel stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected from their sense of self. Anna is passionate about helping individuals move out of survival mode and toward a life rooted in self-worth, clarity, and empowerment.
Anna’s path to becoming a therapist is deeply personal. Shaped by her own experiences of growth and healing, she brings authenticity and compassion to her work, understanding firsthand the courage it takes to face pain and choose change. She finds the greatest meaning in walking alongside clients as they reconnect with their strength and begin to rewrite their stories.
Outside of the therapy room, Anna enjoys hiking, spending time in nature, exploring new places, and playing board, card, and video games. She prioritizes self-care by staying connected to her own growth, spending time outdoors, and creating space to reset and recharge.
Her work is guided by the belief: “My work is rooted in hope, shaped by lived experience, and driven by a deep belief in the transformative power of human connection.”
