What Is Group Therapy
What is Group Therapy?
Group therapy is a form of counseling where a small group of individuals (usually 5–10 people) meets with a licensed therapist to explore challenges, develop coping skills, and build connections. Sessions are typically 60–90 minutes and meet weekly or biweekly.
Benefits of Group Therapy
Learn new coping skills efficiently
Feel supported by others with shared experiences
Gain perspective by hearing others’ stories
Develop social skills and reduce isolation
Receive structure and guidance from a licensed professional
How is Group Therapy Different from a Support Group?
Unlike support groups, group therapy is facilitated by a licensed therapist who provides structure, therapeutic interventions, and education to help participants create meaningful change.
