Sarah Kotz is a Licensed Social Worker who brings warmth, honesty, and a trauma-informed approach to her work with adolescents and adults (ages 15 and up). With a certificate in Interpersonal Violence from Rutgers University and an additional certification in Eating Disorders through the Telehealth Certification Institute, Sarah has been working in the mental health field for approximately four years, specializing in the treatment of trauma, anxiety, stress, low self-esteem, grief, and disordered eating.

Sarah’s therapeutic style is empathetic and direct. She believes in meeting clients where they are, offering a space that balances emotional support with thoughtful challenge. Through a collaborative lens, she uses evidence-based modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, and mindfulness to help clients explore the deeper roots of their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Her sessions often include self-compassion practices, psychoeducation, and practical coping tools to foster insight, healing, and lasting change.

Clients working with Sarah can expect a safe, nonjudgmental space filled with humor, honesty, and emotional depth. She is passionate about helping people build resilience, strengthen self-care, and develop greater awareness of themselves and their patterns. Sarah emphasizes transparency and welcomes feedback throughout the therapy process, believing that the therapeutic relationship is most powerful when it’s built on mutual trust and collaboration.

Sarah is LGBTQIA+ affirming, trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and committed to helping clients feel truly seen and supported throughout their healing journey.

She was drawn to the field of therapy by a deep desire to support people through difficult moments and to witness the transformation that can come from feeling understood. The most rewarding part of her work is watching clients grow in self-awareness, discover new strengths, and cultivate self-compassion.

Outside of therapy, Sarah enjoys dancing, vacationing, going to the beach or coffee shops, watching reality TV, and putting together outfits. Her self-care practices include listening to music, going for walks, playing games, doing makeup, and taking time to unwind with her favorite shows.

A few of her favorite guiding quotes are:

“You can’t pour from an empty cup.”

“Let go of who you think you’re supposed to be; embrace who you are.”
